English Paper Piecing (EPP) involves stabilizing fabric pieces with paper before sewing them into intricate designs. It is most effective for shapes that do not have long straight sides and require numerous set-in corners, such as hexagons and diamonds. Because EPP is done by hand, it makes a terrific on-the-go project, and that is great if that is what you want to do. BUT there are sometimes when combining hand and machine work is best for the finished project. With Nancy's technique, you will learn an efficient way to prepare the quilt shapes and sew them by hand or by machine. The bonus is that by not using a paper template, you do not have to remove the paper. $35 advance plus $15 kit fee.

This hands-on workshop will take place at the Spark Hotel Badger Conference Room (2110 Rimrock Rd.), which is adjacent to the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center. It is approximately a 5-minute walk from the front lobby of the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center to the Spark Hotel. There is a connector gate between the two buildings, so you will not need to go outside. A map and directions will be included in the email with the class tool list.
